A suit is a wardrobe staple that you may need to wear either for an formal, work, or play occasion. But have you noticed that majority of the people look very similar and blend into one particular group. There are times that call upon bringing that extra flare to the occasion in order to get recognized as soon as you enter the room. Follow these simple seven tips that are guaranteed to turn heads:

1. Different colour suits send different messages. Ensure you are dressed to impress but also appropriate for the occasion. Do not wear your 1970's flaming red suit to a black tie event. Wear stripes for business, tuxedos for weddings, and fun playful plaids for social gatherings.

2. If the suit doesn't fit, stay home and quit. No point in going to any event if you are going in an ill-tailored suit. It shows that you have little regard for what you wear and in turn shows little regard for others. Take your suit to a tailor to get the jacket slimmed down, pants tapered, and shortened. A suit bought 10 years ago, once tailored will make it an entirely new suit that is sure to get you some smiles rather than frowns.

3. Wear a tie. One of the most simplest and quickest ways to formalize your look is to reach into your closet and put on a tie. A nice matching tie shows that you are a confident man, self established, and is a welcoming gesture  for others to come greet you. If you don't have a tie, borrow your dad's.

4. Do not button the bottom button of your suit. Follow these general rules. If you have a 1 button suit, button it. If you have a 2 button suit, button the 1st, leave the 2nd undone. If you have a 3 button suit, button the 1st, 2nd, and leave the 3rd undone. If you have a 4 button suit, get rid of it. When sitting down, unbutton all the buttons.

5. Wear a vest to spice things up. Not only does a vest look great under a 2-piece suit, but it also allows you to ditch the blazer halfway through the party to ensure you are all cool, loose, and ready to dance.  Ensure the vest is fitted, an appropriate length, and have it buttoned up minus the last button.

6. Ensure your suit is ALWAYS darker than your shirt. Nothing is a bigger turnoff than wearing a beige suit with a forest green shirt. Sure there are some looks that you can pull off; but if you're reading this article, its best to stick with this simple rule.

7. This last tip has nothing to do with the suit itself. It has to do with your face. GROOM. Get to a barber and get a nice haircut, lineup your beard, and trim the excess chest hair sticking out of your shirt. Grooming goes a long way in not only giving a strong first impression, but keeping a great impression. No one wants to sit with or associate with a guy who just doesn't show interest in self maintenance. Get to your nearest Shoppers Drug Mart and buy your razor today.

These are just a few simple tips to give you an edge when wearing a suit for your next occasion. It is sure to take you from a 5 to a 10 real quick.
